living bridge, stream crossing
Along a manmade waterway locally called “the ditch” in Nevada County, I ran across this very interesting oddity. Two trees on opposite sides of the ditch’s banks grew up directly across from each other and merged in the middle, right over the water. They were the only two trees within a quarter mile of this spot so it’s likely that either some small animal dropped a seed from one to make the other or one blew other the ditch and found just the right spot to grow.
Jesus said in a parable to sow your seeds in fertile ground and they will bear fruit of your labour (seriously paraphrased but you know what He meant and I mean anyway!). Since there was only one spot that had ‘The Right Stuff’ to blast off a tree, apparently the first tree got it right. And not to be forgotten, the two joined together, co-mingling their branches. (Well have to guess about their roots. :-D ) While the bridge is rather delicate and only small animals or bugs could use it as a bridge, it still stands as testimony of greater things seen in the smallest and most humble ways.
Cute, huh? :-D
